The largest privately owned deluxe hotel in Germany, the Bayerischer Hof is housed in a grand 5-storey building which dates from 1897 and has a façade that features beautifully restored cornicing and carved stonework. The medium sized hotel lobby and extensive public lounges adjoining it are furnished with antique furniture and large thick carpets. A staircase leads up to several seating areas, ideal for afternoon tea or coffee in elegant surroundings. On average the 395 guestrooms are large. The style of décor is predominantly traditional, though it does vary a good deal from room to room. Previous guests have commented that the quality does tend to vary depending on which class of room one books, with economy rooms sometimes being a little tired. A rich buffet breakfast is served in the "Dachgarten" (roof garden), where guests can enjoy the view out across the city. The hotel has three restaurants. The "Garden Restaurant" serves delicate cuisine with Mediterranean flair and offers the opportunity to eat out on the garden terrace during the summer months. "Trader Vic’s" restaurant is themed in a Polynesian style. The "Palais Keller" is a Braviarian restaurant, housed in sturdy vaults that date from the year 1425. Originally used as a salt store, today the "Palais Keller" accommodates guests from all over the world who come to enjoy Bavarian delicacies, beers from the keg and pretzels from our the hotel’s own bakery. The hotel’s Blue Spa is a unique oasis in the midst of a lush roof garden.
